A guide to supporting people with mental illness to tackle tobacco

This excellent manual and CD has been produced by the Tobacco and Mental Illness Project, South Australia.  It provides information about the relationship between smoking and mental illness. 

The guide has been developed to assist smokers with mental illness, however it is suitable for all smokers.  It contains practical tools that will be useful for health professionals, community workers, QUIT counsellors, carers and peer workrs to assist people with mental illness address their tobacco use.

It uses the 5A's approach and explores tobacco smoking and mental illness, the impact, pharmacology and best practice principles to support people with mental illnesses wanting to quit smoking.

The resource has an extensive toolkit of resources including handouts and information sheets that can be copied and given to clients.
